As part of providing students with practical exposure to emerging technologies, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented practices, a group of 48 students from the institution visited the AIC-AMTZ Medivalley Incubation Council at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), Visakhapatnam. The visiting team comprised 23 first-year students and 25 Functional Committee students, accompanied by Dean R&D, Dr. S. Ramana Kumar Joga, and Dr. P. Pavitra.
The primary objective of the industrial visit was to expose students to the rapidly developing MedTech ecosystem and help them understand the practical applications of engineering and emerging technologies in healthcare. The visit also aimed to motivate students towards innovation, entrepreneurship, startups, internships, industry-oriented projects, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
During the visit, the students gained valuable insights into various aspects of the medical technology sector, including medical devices, healthcare technologies, diagnostic equipment, patient monitoring systems, and electrical and electronic systems used in healthcare applications. The students interacted with technical teams and gained an understanding of how engineering concepts are translated into practical healthcare solutions.
The interaction provided students with an opportunity to learn about the role of electronics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, instrumentation, and data-driven technologies in developing modern healthcare solutions. The visit helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial applications.
A detailed interaction was held with the technical and incubation teams regarding potential collaboration between AMTZ/AIC-AMTZ Medivalley, Quantum MedTech Lab, Electronics Lab, AI/ML & IoT Healthcare initiatives, and the institution. The discussions focused on several areas of mutual interest, including:
These discussions created opportunities for establishing stronger industry-academia linkages and providing students with access to real-world technological challenges and professional expertise.
The industrial visit significantly enhanced the students’ awareness of the MedTech industry and its multidisciplinary nature. It encouraged them to think beyond conventional academic learning and explore innovative solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. The exposure also helped students understand the importance of combining electrical and electronics engineering with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, IoT, embedded systems, and healthcare instrumentation.
The visit particularly benefited the first-year students by introducing them at an early stage to innovation, entrepreneurship, industry practices, and emerging career opportunities. The participation of Functional Committee students further strengthened the institution’s innovation and entrepreneurship culture.
