Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Department of ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING have grown significantly since its inception in 2006 – 2007. Currently, the Department has an annual intake of 60 students in the B.Tech. Program. 

The Department has a well-balanced combination of senior and experienced faculty together with young and dynamic faculty. The Department has a team of 24 well qualified, experienced and dedicated Post Graduates with FOUR Doctorates and most of them pursuing their Ph.D.'s from different universities in profound streams.

EEE Department has always been on a growing path with strong committed faculty towards engineering education, who work with an untiring zeal and enthusiasm. The Department motive is to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment to the students in order to help them excel in today's global competition. To keep in pace with the current technological trends, the Department has established adequate Centres of Excellence to incorporate all advancements in collaboration with industries.

This provides the students with a pragmatic view of the present scenario in the Electrical Engineering Industry by encouraging students into Post Graduate studies and prepare them for leadership roles in Research and Development. Along with Under Graduate course, the Department offers M. Tech. course in Power & Industrial Drives [PID] from A.Y 2012-13 with an intake of 36 students. Moreover, for the students who desire to brush up practical knowledge with theory, Diploma Course in Electrical Engineering has also been started from A.Y 2014-2015 with an intake of 120 Students.

The EEE Department has good infrastructure with seven different laboratories namely Electrical Machines Lab, Control Systems Lab, Electrical Circuits Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Electrical Measurements Lab, Power System Lab, Electrical Simulation Lab. All the labs are fully equipped to cater the present-day advanced Technology. Computer lab is fully air conditioned with necessary systems and software like MATLAB, PSPICE, ECAD etc., The Department consists of well-furnished classrooms with E-Class room facility along with a separate HOD Room, Cubical Cabins for all staff members and department library comprising of different textbooks, magazines, E-books and competitive exam preparation books.

Department also offers an additional scope for students & faculty to learn through conduction of periodic Seminars, Symposia, Workshops, FDPs, Skill Development Programmes and Guest Lecturers in association with APSSDC and also under the professional bodies like IEEE & ISTE.

Two of the students from EEE are representing IEEE Vizag Bay Section as Student Network Members and our faculty who is holding the position of  DIET IEEE SB Counsellor is nominated as Chair for Student Activities Committee of IEEE Vizag Bay Section for two consecutive years monitoring the IEEE Activities across seven Districts of Andhra Pradesh.

EEE Department has also undertaken various live projects like Solar Lightning in DIET Campus, Air Bicycle, Battery Operated Bike, Electric Car etc. with the help of our final year students most of which have stood out in several project expos and competitions organized at University Level.
