Department of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2011, with an annual intake of 60 students for B.Tech. Programme and subsequently the intake got enhanced to 120 in the year 2013. At present the Department intake for undergraduate (B.Tech.) is 60. Department also offers Diploma in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 seats, which was established in the year 2013.
Civil Engineering is considered as one of the most versatile branch among all the Engineering branches. Civil Engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which includes Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions in this field are Construction Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Soils and Foundation Engineering, Geodetic Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, and Coastal and Ocean Engineering.
The Department has a mix of both experienced and young faculty. Majority of the faculty members actively involve themselves in improving their education qualifications and research works. Faculty and students are encouraged to attend and participate in various seminars, workshops and training programms conducted by various reputed organizations to enhance their knowledge. The management also supports the faculty members with financial assistance to attend workshops, conferences and seminars.
The Civil Department is well equipped with spacious laboratories and experienced technicians. The department of Civil Engineering also offers various consultancy works. Apart from academic, the students get indulged in laboratory experiments with various consultancy works under the Civil Engineering Technology Association (CETA) Club Activities.
